La Toyota ha dominato il Safari Rally Kenya, sesto appuntamento del Mondiale Rally WRC 2022, occupando le prime quattro posizioni della tappa del WRC nel deserto africano. Infatti ben quattro GR Yaris Rally1 hanno conquistato le prime 4 posizioni nella classifica finale del Safari Rally Kenya, vinto da Kalle Rovanpera, davanti a Elfyn Evans, Takamoto Katsuta e Sébastien Ogier.

In Kenya la Toyota ha ottenuto un risultato storico al leggendario Safari Rally Kenya con Kalle Rovanperä che ha guidato la truppa delle quattro GR Yaris Rally1 nelle prime posizioni. Elfyn Evans e Takamoto Katsuta si sono uniti a lui sul podio, con Sébastien Ogier al quarto posto.Toyota ha ottenuto anche la decima vittoria storica nel famoso evento africano e per la prima volta ha ottenuto un 1-2-3-4 nel WRC.
Il Safari Rally Kenya è tornato nel calendario WRC nel 2021 e, rispetto all’anno scorso, il Safari ha offerto condizioni ancora più difficili, tra cui sabbia profonda “fesh-fesh” il venerdì e superfici bagnate e fangose il sabato oltre alle sempre presenti rocce e pietre.
È stata di gran lunga la sfida più difficile per la nuova generazione di auto ibride Rally1, ma la GR Yaris è sopravvissuta a tutto ciò che il terreno keniota poteva lanciarle per rimanere affidabile e dominare il fine settimana senza grossi problemi.
Basta pensare che dopo le Toyota in classifica c’è stato un abisso, con la Hyundai i20 Rally1 di Thierry Neuville al quinto posto che ha terminato la prova africana con oltre otto minuti e mezzo di ritardo dal quartetto Toyota.
